ATC Covid-19 Mitigation Plan

The Covid-19 Mitigation Plan linked to above will serve as our baseline for addressing the ever-changing landscape of the Covid-19 Pandemic. Please note that things change frequently and may require updates to the plan or adjustments in our race-day processes.

Some of the key things to keep in mind are listed below for reference:

Travelers

Be familiar with the Alaska Travel Mandates. Currently, travelers are required to have proof of a negative Covid-19 test taken within 72 hours of departing to Alaska or quarantine upon arrival for 14 days or until a negative result is obtained. Tests can be found for a cost of $250 at the airport upon arrival, but results take 3-5 days to be returned. If you are planning to come to Alaska for the race and will have a short time between arrival and the event, make sure to find a way to get tested prior to departing to Alaska.

Race officials reserve the right to require participants provide proof of a negative Covid-19 test or certification of quarantine adherence from anyone attending from outside of Alaska prior to being admitted to the event venue.

Masks

Masks will be required before and after the event any time racers, spectators, volunteers, or officials cannot maintain proper social distancing. Masks will be required at all pre-race briefings and at the start of the event. Racers will be allowed to remove masks at a designated point shortly after the start of the event.

Tri-Flake Winter Triathlon –  The 2021 Winter Triathlon National Championships, a Team USA World Championship Qualifier!

Register For The Tri-Flake Today!

2021 Race Date set for January 16, 2021.

General Information

This race is open to everyone (USAT membership required). It will serve as the 2021 Winter Triathlon National Championships, a Team USA World Championship Qualifier.

  • Fatbikes are not required, but are STRONGLY encouraged for the bike leg. We do not guarantee the bike course will be firm enough to fully support a regular mountain bike; therefore, any racer choosing to use a regular mountain bike is assuming some risk. Fatbikes can be rented at Chain Reaction Cycles.
  • Only solo racers 17 years old and older are eligible for a national championship and qualification to the world championships. Racers under 16 and relays will still be able to race, they will just be separated in the results from the national championship results.
  • This event will be sanctioned by USA Triathlon, and participants must either be a member of USAT or purchase a one-day race license. If you are an annual USAT member, you will see a $15 credit off your entry. If you need the one day license, the entry fee includes this in the price.

In order to obtain event insurance and official USAT sanctioning, the following policies must be posted:

  • To maintain the integrity of the event timing, the combining of any leg from a solo participant with that of any team is not allowed.
  • Official race bib transfer policy: Due to increased litigation and higher insurance costs, no participant may transfer his/her entry slot/bib number to another individual. Sorry, but this one is a biggie. If an individual is found to have raced under someone else’s name or bib number, that person will be disqualified.
  • Refund/Deferral Policy: As always, putting on a multi-sport event takes a lot of planning, forethought and investment. The registration numbers are the key to our organizing the best event we are capable of and the most fun for you. Once you register, there are no refunds offered. If the event must be cancelled due to COVID-19 related issues, we will offer all registered participants a deferral to either the 2021 Hammerman, the 2021 Moose Nugget, or the 2022 Tri-Flake.
  • COVID-19: We are working with USAT to develop plans to address the current COVID-19 situation. We intend to do everything we can to ensure the safety of our racers, volunteers, and officials while maintaining the integrity of the event.
