Registration for the 2019 Moose Nugget Triathlon is now open for both SPRINT and OLYMPIC distances!  – Register HereThis event is sanctioned by USA Triathlon, and participants must either be a member of USAT or purchase a one-day race license. If you are an annual USAT member, you will see a $15 credit off your entry. If you need the one day license, the entry fee includes this in the price. In order to obtain event insurance and official USAT sanctioning, the following policies must be posted:

• To maintain the integrity of the event timing, the combining of any leg from a solo participant with that of any team is not allowed.

• Official race bib transfer policy: Due to increased litigation and higher insurance costs, no participant may transfer his/her entry slot/bib number to another individual. Sorry, but this one is a biggie. If an individual is found to have raced under someone else’s name or bib number, that person will be disqualified.

• Refund Policy: Planning and developing an athletic event that ensures adequate support and supplies for participants is difficult. We rely on the registration information to provide us with an accurate participant count. Because this is vital to the success of our events, there will be no refunds once a registration has been processed.

Olympic Distance Course

(scroll down for Sprint Course)

Swim (1500m)

The swim will take place in Jewel Lake. It will be an in-water start adjacent to the beach at Jewel Lake Park (east shore of the lake). Swimmers will proceed in a counter-clockwise directly around the buoys for 1.5 laps. The 2nd lap, swimmers will finish at the parking lot along Dimond (south end of lake) and enter T1. Water temperature is expected to be in the mid 60’s and wetsuits are recommended.

Bike (40k)

The bike will take place between T1 on Dimond Blvd. and Kincaid Park. Riders will proceed from T1 onto Dimond Blvd., turning right at Sand Lake Road, then left at Raspberry and continue on to the Kincaid chalet. Although you are now looking at T2, you are only part way done… Riders will then complete two (2) laps from the Kincaid Chalet back down Raspberry to a right on Sand Lake Road, right on Kincaid Road, left on Jodpher, left on Dimond, then left on Sand Lake Road and then continue back to the Kincaid chalet via Sand Lake Road and Raspberry as before. Upon completing the 2nd lap, riders will turn into the lower stadium parking lot at Kincaid and enter T2. Use caution when making the turn into the parking lot as you are coming off a fast downhill and it is a tight corner. Riders have crashed here before, don’t add yourself to the list.

Run (10k)

The run will exit T2 into the Kincaid stadium and head out through the tunnel on the south end. Runners will turn right and join up with the Tony Knowles Coastal Trail by the chalet and follow the trail down the hill and north along the coastline. At the 5k point, runners will turn around (unless they prefer to run backwards on the 2nd half) and make their way back along the same route to the finish in the stadium. Don’t mind that little .5 mile uphill at the end, it only hurts for a little while.
